Weymouth A 2 Southampton University 1
A game played in howling winds with both sides fully committed to gaining the advantage. The Uni boys went ahead in the first half using the wind behind their attacing force to it’s fulll advantage but in the second half Weymouth A came out with the wind behind them and spinakers flying, this isn’t the sailing venue for the 2012 Olympics for nothing! Following a breakdown of a short corner, Matt Walkden kept a calm head and drove back into the D drawing 2 defenders before slipping the ball with his reverse stick to Simon Ellis who picked out a Weymouth player, Johnny Rowe, on the back post and so the fist goall was in and the match levelled for a short while.
Soon after with another high speed Weymouth attack Joe Foot took his last shot as a single man but the University keeper was equal to it, the ball rebounded again to Walkden’s stick, controlled on the reverse, dragged to the open side and hit the full force of the Veteran’s experienced goal scoring skills and a full SW gale, the backboards nearly broke on impact for Weymouth’s second and winning goal.
The University didn’t give up and attacked into the wind galantly but failed to make their mark before the final whistle went.

Man of the Match Dan Marsh – well deserved for stalwart defending throughout.
