Remember, Remember the 5th of November and put it in your diary for next year! Weymouth towns-folk and visitors turned out in their thousands last night to see the festivities.
Before the fire was lit the OTC (Official Test Centre – a Windsurfing company based at the National Sailing Academy) put on an excellent floodlit windsurfing display even without any wind to speak of. The tricky windsurfers were pulled in towards the beach by a Red Bull sponsored jet ski and when they released from the tow performed wild manouvers to the glee of the assembled crowd.
Then the fire was lit and, after a little coaxing from council staff, became a roaring bonfire to be proud of, the Weymouth Laser display above the fire was caught in these excellent pictures by Gerry Walkden, when the crowd realised what was causing the additional beauty in the lasers there was a unified cheer.
Then, whilst the fire burned the firework display took over, as usual from a fishing boat in the bay a superb fantasia of lights and sounds was released for the awaiting hoards.
Fish and Chips on the way home, everyone was happy!
