The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) has published their full event calendar for the 2010 UK sailing year which includes a diverse range of local, national and international regattas that appeal to a full cross section of youths through to seasoned sailors.
The WPNSA is the 2010 host venue for the RYA Volvo Youth Nationals, Farr 45 Yacht Racing National Championships, Laser Combined Sailing Championships, Wayfarer International Cup, Optimist Nationals, Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta and the Dart World Championships.
John Tweed, Chief Executive of the WPNSA is confident with the start to 2010,
‘We are currently shortlisted for the 2010 Sport Industry Award ‘Sport Venue of the Year’ alongside some of the UK’s biggest sport venue names; Twickenham and Wembley Stadiums as well as the O2 and the Brit Oval. The 2010 event diary is set to be another outstanding year of activity and really crosses the sailing fraternity spectrum from young Optimist sailors right through to the experienced Farr 45 yacht racers. With just under 2.5 years to go to the Games it is excellent to see so many international sailors making use of the modern facilities here’.
Due to the increasing popularity of the Games sailing venue, the WPNSA has requested that class associations and event organisers consider booking early for their 2013 – 2015 regattas so as to avoid disappointment. Please contact chris.knight@wpnsa.org.uk for further information.
