Thanks A Million…times six!
Weymouth Sea Life Park welcomed its six millionth visitor on Thursday 11th April 2013 …in the midst of its own 30th anniversary celebrations.
The happy guests, the Bagwell family from Dewlands Way in Verwood, Dorset, came through the park at 11.30 am and were welcomed by an ecstatic Sea Life team as tills flashed informing them that they had reached the six million milestone.
Handing John Bagwell a goody bag worth over £600, Marketing Manager Raquel Cubillo said “It was really exciting waiting to see who would claim the honour, and it couldn’t have gone to nicer family.
“This year is a big year for us in every sense. We have welcomed a host of amazing new creatures to our displays and we’re also hosting the Octonauts from the popular television show all summer long from the 25th May.”
John and April Bagwell, who are both teachers, were visiting the Park with sons Jack (11) and Tom (8) said finding out they were the lucky six millionth visitor was “utterly fantastic we can’t believe our luck!”
Over lunch, after spending the morning walking around the Park Mr and Mrs Bagwell explained how they could not believe how much the park had changed since they last visited over five years ago.
“All the staff are so friendly and the layout is great for both children and adults,” said April. Mr Bagwell added that the Park provided a perfect “educational yet fun day out!”
Their goody bag included a prestigious Merlin Annual Pass giving them free admission to any of Merlin’s 90-plus attractions across the globe for a whole year.
A series of events is planned for summer 2013 at the park starting with Flight of the Sea Eagles running 4th – 6th May where Steller’s Sea Eagles, Bald Eagles and Eagle Owls will be soaring overhead.
This is followed by Turtle Fest 11th – 24th May where visitors can learn all about the plight of the green turtle and how Sea Life is helping fund a sanctuary for sick and injured loggerhead sea turtles in Greece.
